About Aromatherapy

What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a form of herbal medicine that utilizes the use of essential oils to improve one’s mind, mood, and physical health. There are generally three approaches to the essential oil applications in aromatherapy: aerial diffusion (in the form of home fragrance), direct inhalation (for respiratory disinfection and mood improvement), and topical applications (in the form of massage, baths, and therapeutic skin care).

According to the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists at cfacanada.com, aromatherapy is defined as “the art and science of using essential oils for improving and maintaining health and beauty. Several ancient civilizations (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Chinese and Indian) have used Aromatherapy for their physical and mental well-being. Today there is growing interest in this gentle but effective method to balance body, mind and spirit.”

What aromatherapy is not?

Aromatherapy and the use of essential oils are in no way a substitute for medication treatment. We do not diagnose, treat any medical condition, or prescribe medications. Should you have any health conditions, please seek the advice of a professional healthcare provider.
